Hello Everyone
That’s an interesting question but first let me explain what it is, it is a chronic condition that causes pain there is also stiffness of the joints and muscles as well as tenderness , many find they have difficulty in sleeping. anxiety and depression are also included.
The cause is unknown the painful tissues that’s experienced do not show signs of of inflammation, this means as a sufferer you may experience debilitating pain, however it is not accompanied by deformity or damage, like you get with other rheumatic conditions .
Women are more likely to be affected it seems to develop between the ages of 30 and 60
However I have treated someone much younger than 30 years of age.
The symptom is pain. its seems those who have this condition have a low pain threshold, pain can be felt all over the body, and when touched on tender points can bring on pain and muscle spasm.
Fatigue is also a big problem due to disturbed sleep, sadly sufferers normally wake up tired so you can see why those with this condition do not fully relax and rest.
Sufferers can also experience migraines, headaches, stress related digestive disorders ,painful periods .
IS THERE A TREATMENT ?
There is no cure for Fybromyalgia ,so how can one treat it ? the aim is to reduce pain and improve the the quality of life for the sufferers, Research as shown that exercise may improve the symptoms things like low impact aerobics , no muscle building or straining ,this may help your energy levels and might help you sleep better The best advice i can give on this is to see a physiotherapist who can advise an exercise plan.
obviously there are a number of medicines that can be described so you would need to see your gp
But back to my original question can reflexology help those who suffer from Fybromyalgia ?
well its recommended that all sufferers should lead a healthy life style so it would be advantageous to make an appointment with a nutritionist , and any treatment that enables you to relax or de-stress is going to be beneficial. So Reflexology may benefit sufferers it may balance the body and might aid sleep ,and reduce the effects of fatigue that is so common with sufferers and help you relax
so if you would like to book an appointment to see me feel free . prices and appointments can be made on line.
take care all.
keep coming back for more health issues , and advice.
