What is Indian Head Massage?

This is a Massage therapy that works on the areas surrounding the head, scalp, neck and face the Indian head massage that I practice involves massaging the back, shoulders, upper arms, neck, scalp and face.

It is a very simple and effective way to relax and can be as effective as a full body massage as it works on the meridians, which has the effect to calm the central nervous system.

How can Indian Head Massage benefit me?

There are many potential benefits from this relaxing therapy which may help to:

  • Reduced stress
  • Improved hair condition
  • Improved circulation
  • Increased energy levels
  • Stimulation and improvement of the circulatory and lymphatic systems
  • Relieves muscular tension and fatigue
  • Stimulates the release of endorphins from the brain which helps relieve pain

What is involved in having an Indian Head Massage?

A warm welcome greets you when you arrive at my home practice, we will talk to each other to determine your present and past health issues and your lifestyle a consultation will be taken. Then  I will invite you to sit and relax on a low backed chair you remain fully clothed as the massage is mainly the upper back, shoulders, neck, head, then face.

You may wear a light t-shirt or a strapless top. Upper clothing can be removed and a large modesty towel applied. The treatment usually lasts approximately 45 minutes.

The massage is invigorating you will feel revitalized and uplifted. I will stand behind you to perform the massage and although it focuses on the upper part of the body the massage has an impact on the whole body.

How will I feel after my treatment?

After experiencing your Indian Head Massage you should feel relaxed and calm it is best that you try to relax afterwards, this helps the natural healing process.  You may experience the following symptoms however this should not alarm you:

  • Migraines
  • Aching muscles
  • Sleepy
  • Head aches

This is proof that the treatment is working.

What to do after the treatment

  • Drink plenty of water to aid toxins to be washed through your system
  • Get plenty of rest
  • Do not drink alcohol for 24 hours
  • An after care advice sheet is given to all clients
